Bali Village in Rethymno Crete
Bali is a traditional fish village that lies 25 km from Rethymnon and 50 km from Heraklion. It is built on a picturesque bay with four crystal clear water beaches and combines both mountain and sea, thus being the ideal location for those who wish to enjoy their vacation in a pleasant and comfortable environment.
In the restaurants and bars of the village, one can enjoy the famous traditional Cretan cuisine and the cosmopolitan cocktails offered at the local bars and discos.
Although Bali is a contemporary resort, it is at the same time a place with long history dating back to the ancient times, under the name Astali and thus a starting point for many excursions. Basic sights of the area are the Astali Monastery dedicated to Saint John, dating back to the 17th century, the church of Panagia Harakiani, the Melidoni Cave, as well as the numerous traditional villages for quiet walks in the nature.
Access to Bali is easy by bus, both from Rethymnon and Heraklion where you can find the closest port and airport of the island respectively.
